Hodgy Beats & Jonti – Nagoya by stonesthrow

I know I often post a lot about the Odd Future crew but when I heard that they were coming back for the “Big Day Out” next year (so excited!!), it had me scoping out some new music from the group. Luckily enough, via Hodgy’s tumblr (of the OFWGKTA fame), I found a track from Hodgy Beats himself and Sydney’s own beat wizard Jonti Danilewitz, whom, if you don’t know is signed to Stone Throw Records, the label that also represents Mayer Hawthorne, Aloe Blacc and Dam Funk, amongst others.

The two met when both parties were in Sydney touring as part of the “2011 Sydney Vivid Festival” and became fast friends. On Thursday night, Danilewitz entered the studio with Hodgy Beats and by the end of the night, the song they had written and recorded, ‘Nagoya’, was up on the internet. The track is named after Japan’s third largest city, but it’s a balm-and-breeze West Coast evening affair. Have a listen and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Anyone else excited for the Odd Future crew to be coming back and gracing our Aussie shores in 2012?

Jonti Danilewitz’s debut LP “Twirligig” is out on Stones Throw in just over a fortnight. Get onto it.
