Pow Wow 2012 (Hawai’i)

At last year’s Carbon event in Melbourne, I was lucky enough to have met Jasper Wong, the talented artist and curator of Pow Wow Hawai’i. And now, it’s almost time for the multi-day art event to start up again on the island of Oahu.

This is the third year since Wong first created the event to enrich the local creative scene in Hawaii and this year will take place at Loft in Space, a community space in Honolulu that supports visual arts, music, and education locally and internationally through monthly exhibitions and outreach.

POW WOW HAWAI’I 2012 will welcome 30 artists from around the world who over a six day period will make exceptional pieces and give the community a chance to look on as the artists create. A few featured artists include 123KLAN, Angry Woebots, Aaron De La Cruz, Flying Fortress, Mr. Jago, Jeff Hamada, Nicole Naone, Samuel Rodriguez, Suitman, and Prime.

Learn more at Loft In Space, and if you reside in or near Hawaii, this is definitely one event not be missed.
I know there are plans within the crew to go to Hawaii this year, but how about we push that trip forward… anyone?

Peep the poster above to see who’s attending the six day event this year, and watch one of many recap videos below for a glimpse of what happened last year.
