Brooklyn Machine Work’s Launchpad

Spotted over at prolly is not probablyBrooklyn Machine Works (possibly my favorite bicycle builders of all time) shared sneak peeks of their new frame, the Launchpad.  Shown in the pics,  you can see it’s built up as a town bike; with an internally geared rear wheel and has some really neat features and details such as neat fender mounts, cleaving in the seat tube and gussets for strength.  Definitely a zippy good looking way to bash through town.  I really want one! Love it!  … nearly forgot to mention their awesome new stem too! Check it out.

adidas Originals – Star Wars™ Cantina 2010

Need to find a place to watch the 2010 FIFA World Cup? If only this place existed.

The latest installment of the 2010 Originals campaign, “The Street Where Originality Lives”, combines Star Wars, adidas and the world’s largest sporting event in a cinematic first that takes the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ to a whole new galaxy.

The film is a creative re-edit of one of the most famous Star Wars movie scenes, the Mos Eisley Cantina, and features David Beckham, Franz Beckenbauer, Snoop Dogg, Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown, Ciara, Jay Baruchel, Daft Punk, DJ Neil Armstrong, and not to mention Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

A great promo that is both clever and entertaining. Enjoy.

Bike Pal!

If the image above doesn’t give it away, Bike Pal! is a site where you can find a someone in your local area to go for a bike ride with. All you need to do is give your name, e-mail address, area and type of ride you would like to go on and hopefully someone will e-mail you about meeting up for a ride or you can see if there’s anyone already listed that you might like to contact. Sure it seems a little corny and although the Bike-Pal network is rather small (which unfortunately at the moment consists of only one willing rider from Australia), the site is still young and who knows, perhaps dear reader, you might be thinking ‘a little corniness is just what I need’.

I Met the Walrus

In 1969 Jerry Levian snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room and convinced him to sit for an interview. Not all that amazing you may be thinking, however, Jerry was only 14 years old at the time! He had heard a rumour that the icon was going to be in Toronto, so he skipped school and went on a search to find him. Jerry made his way to a hotel he thought John might stay in, “went to the top floor, knocked on every door and woke a lot of disgruntled people”. 39 years later Jerry produced I Met the Walrus, a short animated film about the experience which was nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the 2008 Oscars. Unfortunately the film did not win but it is without a doubt a beautiful and worthy visualisation of the interview, that adds emphasis to the poignant message of peace preached by the passionate, late, great, legend, John Lennon.

New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival 2010

Oh when the saints, come marching in..
.. they throw one hell of a festival.
Even after the tragic hurricane Katrina and the recent disastrous hurricanes that swept New Orleans just days before, the show went on.
Starting off the 2 week festival Lionel Ritchie headlined Jazz Festival through rain hail or shine. Tootin’ trumpets, blazing saxophones and melodic pianos were just a taste of what you could hear around various tents and outdoor stages. Coupled with the soothing singing of soul sisters this was a true all ages event.

Leave Me

Leave Me from Daros Films on Vimeo.

This short film will make you want to cry.

A piece that was beautifully shot and produced by Daros Films, the poignant motion picture tells of a recent widower dealing with his grief through his wife’s broken camera.

Leave Me has already won several awards including the ‘Best Short Film’ category at the 2009 Script2Screen Film Festival in Tulsa (Oklahoma, US) last year, and also picked up the ‘Best Narrative Short’ for the Trail Dance Film Festival earlier this year.
