People who don’t like racing are ‘Race’ists

As each of the major motor racing categories in the world draws to a close, only a handful of drivers will emerge as champions. I blog to reflect on the amazing accomplishments of these gods of speed. As pointless motorsports may seem to some, but no one can deny that racing is a representation of innovation and human advancement; an art for those with imagination and madness; a provider of rewards for those who dare to dream. (Scroll down to the end of this blog and you’ll see the perk. =D)

So here’s a recap of what happened in 2009. » Continued…

Exhibit C

Jay_elec_n1112679847_30186438_9941

OMFG. Tonight is the Wu Tang gig, and while taking a break from listening to some Wu Tang Forever, I stumbled across a new Jay Electronica joint. I’ve been raving on about this dude for a while now. His flow, lyrics and delivery is on some crazy next level type shit. I don’t think the world is ready, better yet, I don’t think the world is worthy. Maybe that’s the reason why he’s taken soooo long to release a LP. Nevertheless he’s released that crazy “Eternal Sunshine” joint years back that totally flipped my perspective of music.

Recently Jay’s been working with Just Blaze to create some of the most amazing tracks. Seriously. This right here is unbelievable. If this is the first time you’ve heard about Jay Electronica, google him, youtube him, do whatever you can to learn more. You won’t regret it.

Eye Spy

As of late I have been taking public transport to work and I am really beginning to enjoy the perks. Of a morning I walk through Newtown, a suburb known for it’s flair and eclectic culture and on to Marrickville, generally an industrial area that is taking a few notes from it’s neighboring suburb with a number of cafes and odd shops opening up recently, showing the district has a little more to offer than just factory space. The refurbishments are working in attracting more people, mainly youth, to the region and this is apparent in the boom of street art popping up recently. Now I don’t know the opinion of the locals but I for one am loving what I see. (More pics after the jump)

Tuesday Night at the Cafe

Tuesday Night at the Cafe. It’s exactly what you think it is.. it’s on a Tuesday night.
Bringing out the local talent in the city of Los Angeles to an outdoor courtyard where folks from around the area can witness some of the most amazing performances to hit the street.
Be moved by the soulful own written songs and melodies, feel the raw emotion slam poetry can give you and/or just enjoy everyones company and kick back.
Open mic nights where you can sing, slam poetry or play your favourite musical instrument for everyone to experience. Even if you’re not in the area (or country), you can watch a live feed online!

Started by a collaboration of like minded groups and individuals, this event is held to provide awareness for the asian american community. By giving the public a little bit (or a lot) of themselves, they aim to present multi-disciplinary artists at each event to provide what they believe to be one another’s greatest resource, each other.

Just rock up (in person or online) and chill out.

Check out all the info online on www.tnkat.org.

Osaka Ben @ Chopsticks Tattoo

Whilst I was travelling in Japan earlier this year, I had the pleasure of meeting Benny, who is one of the only gaijin tattooist in all of Osaka. I also had the honor of getting inked by him. I was just looking through his blog (benher.org) and found 2 videos where he talks about Japanese Culture and how tattoos are perceived in the culture. The video goes into details from when he first came to Japan and how he got into tattooing. These two videos are pretty educational into the history of tattoo culture in Japan. Tattoo History 101 / Tattoo in Todays Society 101. Get yo learn on before you get inked.

This guy is real dope, real down to earth. Check the videos out.

And if you ever get the chance to go to Osaka, go check out Chopsticks Tattoo, meet Ben and get inked!

Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance

If you’ve ever seen the original series of Evangelion you’ll know that its a masterpiece and will remain one of the greatest animations ever produced. In October 2007 Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone was screened internationally, which was basically a rebuild, point to point adaptation of the series with original scenes as well as new and omitted scenes. Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance is following up of Evangelion 1.0 and follows the adaptation and new scenes also. Big robots, guns & girls…its gotta be good right? Plus Utada Hikaru sings the theme song.

Either way, if you’ve seen it or haven’t, its going to be an epic film, to be screened in Australia in 2010 Reel Anime. So keep your heads out for this one. Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone is available on DVD already. Get yo Eva On!
